Join us for an exclusive, guided experience through the storied past of Buffalo Bill Cody s legendary TE Ranch. Nestled in the breathtaking South Fork Valley, this tour provides a rare opportunity to explore one of the most iconic ranches in the West. Once the personal retreat of Buffalo Bill himself, this walk through history offers privileged access to this historic property rarely open to the public.
Established by William F. Buffalo Bill Cody in 1895, the TE Ranch served as both a working cattle operation and a relaxing haven for the man who captivated the world with his Wild West Shows. Today, the TE is still a working cattle ranch and in 2021 its owners and managers were named Landowners of the Year in the Big Horn Basin by the Wyoming Fish and Game Department.
During this unforgettable event, guests will see the original ranch grounds, historic buildings, and preserved landscapes that reflect Buffalo Bill s pioneering vision. Participants will hear historical facts and stories that delve into Cody s complex legacy and learn about the TE Ranch s heritage, including its connection to the Shoshone irrigation project and development of the Big Horn Basin.
This is more than a tour; it s a journey into the past and a chance to walk where legends walked. With extremely limited group size, personalized interpretation, and exclusive access, this is a unique opportunity for history enthusiasts, heritage travelers, and admirers of the true American West.
This Tours & Trails event begins at the Center of the West at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 15. We expect to return to the Center around 5 p.m. or a bit later. There will be quite a bit of walking at the ranch, some of it on uneven ground, so please wear sturdy walking shoes.
Spots are limited and advanced registration is required. Cost is $70 for Buffalo Bill Center of the West members and $75 for non-members. Shared transportation to the ranch is available, and tickets to this program include complimentary snacks and water.
