Exclusive Tours and Trails: Cedar Mountain/Spirit Cave Hike

Why are there so few cedar trees on Cedar Mountain? What ghosts might live in Spirit Cave? Well, join Exclusive Tours on September 22nd to find out!

On September 22nd, at 1:00pm, experience the stunning beauty and rich history of Cedar/Spirit Mountain under the expert guidance of Dave Leo, the owner of Hiking Buddy LLC, and the Exclusive Tours team.

Cedar Mountain contains far more than just geological tunnels and caves. It also contains an alleged grave of Buffalo Bill, holds the secrets to one of Wyoming's original national monuments, and plays an important role in Native American history. Join our expert guides for an immersive and enlightening journey through the rich history of this remarkable area.

This Tours & Trails is more than just a walk; it's an interactive journey through time! Engage with your guides, ask questions, and immerse yourself in the breathtaking views as you embark on a trek that brings history and geology to life.

This intermediate hike includes a 5-mile out-and-back trail, with an elevation gain of 1,500 feet. This trek averages about 5.0 hours with lots of stops planned for participants to enjoy the scenery, learn some history, catch our breath, and grab as many photos as desired. It begins on a rugged Jeep-road that will get your heart pumping as we ascend toward the awe-inspiring Spirit Cave.

After a rest at the mouth of Spirit Cave, we'll make our way back down via various serpentine trails, offering new perspectives and experiences on the return journey. Lace up your trekking boots, bring your sense of adventure, and join the Exclusive Tours Team and Hiking Buddy on an unforgettable historical hike.

This Tours & Trails event begins at the Center of the West at 1 p.m. September 22nd (our rain date is Tuesday, September 24th, if necessary). We expect to return to the Center around 6 p.m. or a bit later. Let s explore history together and discover YOUR West!

Registration is required as limited spots are available. Cost is $70 for Buffalo Bill Center of the West members and $75 for non-members. Shared transportation to the trailhead is available, and tickets to this program include complimentary trail snacks, water, and hiking poles for the duration of the event.
